(Spoiler: It’s not just about phone cases.)
Let’s be honest. Does the world need another phone case? Probably not.
But, here at CleanHub, we're a little obsessed with a big, hairy, audacious goal: True Circularity. And sometimes, to solve a massive problem, you have to start with a small, transparent test.
Phone cases are practical. People need them. And they replace them often. So here we are:Â Introducing our new Recycled Plastic Phone Case.
In this instance, not just a product, but a slightly-nervous experiment in closing the loop on plastic waste.
The CleanHub Dream: 🔄 Circularity is the Gold Standard
If you know us, you know we work with local partners to build permanent plastic collection infrastructure in communities that lack waste management. This is verified, tracked plastic that would otherwise end up polluting the environment.
The next step is the real challenge: making sure that collected plastic actually becomes new, verified products.
Our dream? That every product on the market that can be made from recycled plastic, is made from recycled plastic.
Even better? We want brand partners to manufacture with the very plastic they helped collect.
Imagine plastic that was:
- Collected from one of the communities where we operate.
- Tracked from collection, through sorting, to recycling.
- Turned into high-quality pellets.
- Used to create a brand-new, beautiful product—without any virgin plastic.
Right now, in global supply chains, that process is incredibly complex, expensive, and hard to verify with certainty.
Putting Ourselves in the Hot Seat 🔥
So we decided to walk the walk. We put ourselves in the shoes of the brands we support.
We launched this test product—yes, it's a real product you can buy—to experience firsthand what small-to-medium brands go through.
Product ideation. Design. Manufacturing. Packaging. Shipping. Every regulation hurdle you can name.
This phone case is our lab experiment.
We could have just written a report about this challenge. But where's the fun in that? We'd rather get our hands dirty (literally, with recycled plastic).
What You're Really Buying
When you purchase one of these phone cases, you're not just getting a sleek case for your device. You're buying:
- A Test: You're proving that consumers want products that make an impact—and that recycled plastic is just the beginning. Your purchase helps us work out the kinks and build a closed-loop blueprint for bigger brands.
- Immediate Impact: We want this to be the highest-impact test possible, so we're not waiting for the loop to close to make a difference. For every phone case sold, we collect an additional 10 kg of plastic waste from communities before it can reach the environment.
- An Honest Product: This case is made from recycled plastic. We're working hard to ensure future batches use our own verified recovered plastic. The challenge is real, and we're telling you about it every step of the way.
We believe that being honest about how hard circularity is—that's the only way to actually achieve it. And help other brands achieve it too.
Help us close the loop. Buy the experiment. Protect your phone (and the ocean).
